Impulsestorm

A Question of the Impulsestorm Community
by Morgan Hoban on 04.19.2005
Since Tommy has forsaken impulsestorm in favor of the universally loathed "personal website", I fear for this site and what it used to be. As one of the original (and next to Tommy possibly THE first member, I'll have to check) members of Impulsestorm, I've decided to create a new site of this sort for the dream that was Impulsestorm to continue on. This is not really a post, but rather more of a questionnaire asking if:
A: There is enough interest for me to even undertake the project.
B: Suggestions for the site design (the site will be much like this one, but slightly different in some ways due to it's different designer)
C: Suggestions for a new name (since impulsestorm is just such a cool name and Tommy understandably wants to hold on to it)

I've run the idea past Tommy and received his blessing in the pursuit, and upon completion would be seeded with all the articles from the impulsestorm database.

So....how about it?

Good Call

I like the idea. Impulsestorm has served us well, but there is no use trying to resurrect a dead horse. Would the site serve more as an impulsestorm-esque thinktank or a site in which the subject matter is more current event based? And will the weblogs be carried over? I'm all for the idea, and if you need any help I'm more than willing.

Yes, it would be a thinktank. It would pretty much operate the same way (weblogs included) save I'm thinking about handling the comments in a slightly different way. Instead of just having a string of comments immediately after the post, I was considering have a separate page for discussions relating to the article, and that would be a forum thread based system.
